Organization :
The flying club organization is based on events, challenges, and fly'ins managed by its administrator.
The aero club is based on Muret-Lherm (LFBR) airfield. This airfield was only a grass strip in the fifties. Since then, many things have changed.
Facilities :
Opened to public air traffic in 1955, most of tourism aircraft can now utilize the runway, given the fact that they respect specific procedures related to airfield infrastructures.
The paved runway was built in 1971.
Since 1990, many technical improvements have been done to the field:
- The paved runway length has been increased to 1,100 meters allowing twin engines aircraft to operate
- Night flight equipment
- Instrument approach and landing equipment
- Landing visual helps were added
The airfield perfectly fits with its environment. That’s why many organization now regularly use it: civil aviation training center, Toulouse Air Formation, Helicop’ Air, Clement Ader and Jean Mermoz aero clubs, microlight club, as well as private aircrafts.
Totally, 5o aircrafts are based in Muret, for more than 90,000 moves per year. 150 persons work there, and between 100 to 150 persons visit daily the site. The maintenance is ensured by Muret municipality. Apart from the paved runway, there are also two unpaved runways (grass). One is 825 x 50 m for light aircrafts, and the second one is 300 x 40 m for microlights.
